Many people refer to evening primrose oil as one of the most miraculous discoveries in preventive care since Vitamin C. It has preventive and therapeutic characteristics that are so numerous that it has become a regular suggestion of quite a large number of herbalists for keeping one youthful and avoiding illness.

The 10 Health Benefits of Evening Primrose Oil

GLA Deficiency
Evening primrose oil is full of the fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA (one of the body’s essential fatty acids). GLA and other fatty acids are very important for the general function of your body. Alcoholics and individuals with diabetes tend to be deficient in GLA, and that may lead towards the development of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and cardiovascular disease in addition to a number of other problems.

Heart Health
2nd on our list of the health benefits of evening primrose oil is how it can help with keeping a healthy heart. Studies have shown that using evening primrose oil on a daily basis can help lower a person’s cholesterol, blood pressure, and safeguard one against coronary artery disease and thus decrease the chance of heart disease and heart attacks.

Menstrual Pain
Evening primrose oil is usually used to alleviate the distress that is commonly associated with menstrual signs. While certain studies have supported this particular claim, other studies have ended up with inconclusive results. Nevertheless, there’s no denying that many women all over the world are finding relief by using evening primrose oil.

Diabetes
Diabetics occasionally have difficulty producing GLA and evening primrose oil could be an effective supplement to help benefit them. Studies have discovered that evening primrose oil could also help safeguard individuals from diabetic neuropathy, a nerve condition frequently affecting individuals with diabetes. This condition can cause pain, tingling, numbness, and other issues in the legs and toes.

Skin Health
Evening primrose oil is recognized as an efficient remedy for eczema and a number of other skin problems due partly to its GLA content and other essential fatty acids which are necessary to correct skin health.

Anti-Inflammatory and Discomfort Reliever
Evening primrose oil is known to have anti-inflammatory properties, and might help ease the symptoms of  rheumatoid arthritis and chest discomfort.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
There was 1 study that was done that showed that two-thirds of kids struggling with attention deficit hyperactive disorder showed enhancement after using evening primrose oil.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Some preliminary studies show that using evening primrose oil together with a quality fish oil could be an efficient therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome. Nevertheless, more study is required to show this link.

Helps to Counter Impotence and Infertility
Since it helps to stimulate blood flow the GLA that is in evening primrose oil might help to remedy one of the primary reasons for male impotence; compromised circulation resulting in penile blood flow that is impaired. The oil is usually taken together with ginkgo biloba and vitamin C  for optimal benefits. Additionally, once the oil is taken over a longer period of time, GLA might help to prevent one’s blood vessels from becoming narrow, which is something that is frequently due to a buildup of plaque from high cholesterol. By helping to improve uterine function, GLA also may help those people who are not able to conceive.

Helping With Symptoms of Alcohol Withdrawal
The brain is prompted by GLA to make a particular kind of prostaglandin that is known as prostaglandin E, which can work to prevent withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms would be, for example, seizures and depression. It helps to prevent them by indirectly protecting the nervous system and the liver.

Primrose Oil can be found in both oil extract and capsule form.
